The best first experience in Madagascar!

Writing this review the same day we were dropped off after our tour.

I traveled to Madagascar with my friend, Matt. It was our first visit so I did a lot of research online beforehand and found Nirina’s agency. He presented several options for a 10-day tour via email. Once we agreed on the one that fit our needs, all we had to do was show up at the airport. Our guide-to-be, Niaina, and airport transfer driver, Raoul, met us at the airport and took us directly to the hotel. There was a minor mix-up about the number of beds when we checked in, but Nirina fixed it all instantly. On the first day, Niaina, and driver, Petit, showed us around Tana as we just wanted a lazy day after a long flight.

We started the actual tour a day after that and it couldn’t have been more perfect, especially thanks to our awesome tour guide, Niaina. He had extensive knowledge of the country, its nature, its various cultures, and even taught us quite a few phrases in Malagasy. When the road got rough, or we got stuck in mud or a flooded area, we knew we were going to be okay because of Niaina, and our drivers, Petit, Donné, and Tony. We had multiple drivers due to various reasons but they were all so wonderful.

A big thank you to Nirina for coordinating our tour. And we cannot sing enough praises about his team (including Petit and Tony). Niaina deserves a lot of thanks for his patience, great sense of humor, his resolve, and just the overall person he is. An excellent tour guide!

Our experience traveling in Madagascar (we only traveled east to west) was amazing, and I believe it is largely due to Nirina’s team. It was sad to part, but I know I will definitely return to see north and south of the country.
